Annakut
A Mountain of Food
Annakrut
“A Mountain of Food.”
As Diwali marks the close of the Hindu calendar year and heralds the arrival of the Indian New Year, devotees prepare an array of exquisite sweet and savory delicacies for the first offering of the year, known as Annakut. The term Annakut, signifies a celebration of food and grand offering presented to God as an act of devotion.
In the temple, where the Annakut is carefully arranged, devotees and sadhus come together to sing an assortment of ‘thaal’ kirtans, joyfully welcoming God into the New Year. This sacred ritual, performed with sincere devotion and humility, symbolizes the renewal of spiritual dedication and celebrates the divine presence in the New Year.
